Default Got my raptor yesterday!!!!

Just got home. First thing i have to say is...holy crap, that baby is a W%t dream. I first let it warm up. Hopefully this is considered smooth idling without choke cause thats what i waited til. Went easy for first minute to get a feel for its handling and power and gearing and then i started to push it. I gave it a smooth but pretty quick push to 3/4 throtle and it went!!! Let it decelerate...did same thing again but this time i did it in third. i pretty much did this with all the gears but never really staying at the same rpm for more than a split second. The lever might have been in same spot for a little longer, but that was during somewhat hard acceleration so the power had to catch up to the throttle. I let it cool down for about 20 min than rode it again, going through the gears.

I LOVE IT!!!! In fact, since ive had it, i havent called my gf. lol

some questions: i noticed front brake didnt stop me too quick. at one point i had to squeeze really hard and i barely stopped in time. Im assuming they just have to break in or something?

Does the oil filter wrence that is like a strap capable of being used or do you need the kind that goes with a rachet?

WHat are you people talkin bout...TIPPY?? Dont wanna jinx myself but all the people who say this must not know how to ride cause i felt super confident on it and didnt even notice the height? knock on wood.

Does anyone object to 93 gasoline?

What about yamalube?

I wanna make my rear shock stiffer...it sags perfectly when i sit on it and all that but i want a stiffer ride.
can someone tell me what this is called i always get confused between rebound and preload and all that stuff.

Does more power come as it is broken in?

What do u guys use to keep it shiny and clean...especially u LE owners!!??

I have 300 yamahabucks. Except for oil and filters...what are some MUSTS for teh raptor.

I heard the skid plates are crap so im thinkin of gettin full gytr skids.

thats all for now, thanks for all your help now and in the past.

I AM NOW THE EXTREMELY PROUD OWNER OF A LE RAPTOR!!!!

Brakes might start to work a little better, if not take it in it might need to be bled.

It will run a little stronger once it"s broke in.

Yamalube is good that's what I use.

Get a PRM swing arm skid. The GYTR belly skid is nice and not way over priced.

89 octane should be fine maybe better than 93.

Preload is to soften or stiffen when you push down on the quad, rebound controls how fast it comes back up or rebounds.

Lemon pledge shines it up real nice.

I would have the oil and filter changed at 10 hrs. and have the valves adjusted.

TIPPY. It's not as bad as most say but I rolled mine on the second ride. Be carefull and have fun!

wow, that was a great post. Does everyone agree with this?

Seems right to me. Yeah ill see what happens about the brakes. I only have 3 hours on it. i changed oil and filter after 3 hours. when it gets to ten im bringin it in for scheduled maintenance and valve job. Will the chemicals in Pledge hurt the plastic...are you sure its safe for it?

What does everyone think about the octane? reg or 93?

thanks/ warrior

Welcome to raptor world!! the brakes are a little mushy it will get better! Watch hitting it in first it will wheelie over! I use pledge, got the message from another forum member. I use 10-50 synthetic oil (yamalube) and K&N oil filters. Get a long funnel, adding oil is difficult! Mostly just enjoy, go ride it a little, pay attention to what other forum members are saying and you can figure out what they are suggesting and whether you can afford it and whether it makes sense!!

Stiffening that back spring is difficult. I removed the back fenders and battery and electrics to give some room. Be sure to get the tires off the ground(made the mistake) when trying to tighten or it is a BITCH!!!!

so how's that raptor compared to the warrior? probably about the same I bet..hear them raptors are over-rated, and everyone is buying them cause they have the plastics that look like the Air Force designed them, and if your freinds see you on them you're like cool

ok, well im done askng bout what i should get. Still dont know if i should used 93 or regular. Ill get a long funnel. Any surprises i should prepare for when changing the oil im gonna do it tomorow or the next day before i ride it again.

To that last post, the raptor and warrior are in two different leagues. It is not overrated! It handles better than warrior, has great power and really confortable. It brings confidence. The looks help, but thats not the main reason why i bought it. The warrior was a great quad, put it through a ton of sh*t and great for trails, but not to sound cocky or push my luck, but it couldnt really keep up with my skill. I wanted to push it harder, but it was already at the hardest it would go. And im not known around where i live because of my ride, im known because of the way i ride.

As usual, thanks to everyone for their imput. See ya later
