just wondering if anyone had any idea as to why my kodiak might be knocking off. when i first got it about two months ago, it ran perfect but occasionally after riding for a few minutes, when you would come to a stop the idle would drop very low and the engine would die. it would crank back fine and still run great. it didn't do it every time, just once in a while.
i set the idle up and the problem went away. but two days ago it started it again. did it three times this weekend. but today i rode it and no problems at all. sometimes when you come to a stop the idle stays normal and sometimes it drops to the point that the engine knocks off. somedays it works great others it doesn't. im sure its nothing big, i just don't know a great deal about carburation, just the basics. thank you for your help.

I had the same problem when I got mine - simple solution - I dropped the carb needle (raised the clip) one notch - it worked for me, hope it does the same for you

My first guess would be a dirty and restricted air filter. Then insuffecient valve clearance, restricted carb vent or high float level.
