Raptor Intakes, Problem fixed!!!!!!
#1
Hey guys,
Just finally finished totally rebuilding my Raptor. But even after all the mods, the damn stock intake boots we popping off. So I ordered the UPP intake manifolds and put them on tonight. Awesome!! At first the weren't going on any better, so I told my buddy to grab the allen wrench and I'd pull on them. So I sat on the front bumper, grabbed the carb assembly with both hands and a thing of beauty happened. Both carbs litterally snapped into place. I let go and they went no where. Awesome!! They were worth every penny!
So for all you guys that haven't changed the intake boots and are having the carbs pop out. Trust me this is one aftermarket part that really works.

I adjusted my idle up it seems like sometime right after I became a member here on the forums after reading about the problem and its solution. I have had my raptor coming up almost 2 years now with no pop offs and still running the 01 set of gears.
It was garyc660R who first brought it to my attention about the 01 reverse use.

Me too. I have never had any problems with my 2001 tranny, starter, or carb boots. I have stock pilots, never use reverse, and I use my clutch when I shift.
27.5 pilots + choke = rich = difficult to start = wearing out your starter and poping your carbs off.

I'm haven't had the boots come off either, but I too raised my idle speed when my Raptor was new. It did backfire once after I purchased it and seeemed to be idling too low. I also never use reverse and haven't had tranny problems either.....and I hope I don't!!!
