Default Gas boiling

Went for a ride with a buddy today he has a 2002 kodiak. After pulling a long hill we stopped to enjoy a beverage and noticed a strong gas smell turns out it was the gas in his tank boiling and venting out the breather hose. He removed one side cover for the trip home and that seemed to help.Do any of you Yamaha guys have any fixes for this (other than completely removing the side covers )
thanks

Default Gas boiling

I took my gas tank off and covered the entire bottom of it with that reflective heat tape. Then I bought that Highlifter heat wrap (like $40, but worth it) and wrapped the header pipe from the engine all the way back past the carb with it. Haven't seen a problem since. I only had that problem one time, but once was enough, so thats the route I took. Seems to have done the job. Those body panels keep the heat off your leg, but they also don't let air flow free around the engine. I've seen a few good solutions where guys cut their panels in different ways to let air out.
