Default Banshee Porting: worth it or not

I am considering having my Banshee ported. I have a few questions before I have it done. Most places claim somewhere around 15 hp gain with porting alone. Is this the case? Also, who do you recommend to do the work? I have read good and bad things about different engine builders. I want a "real world seat of the pants" analysis. Any input would be a big help!

Thanks
Dave

Wll I dont know how to put this but, HELL YEA!!!!!!!!! Port that baby.

As for who to use? There are many good builders. I opted to use an unknown against the recomendation of some on here. We have done well and he is willing to teach me the whats and whys. I have never been on a dyno so I couldnt tell hp, but all I can tell you is mant are asking what has been done?

I am in no way the fastest or even close to being, but for the mods it flies.

It depends on who does the work, and how you are set up! What kind of riding, what pipe are you using? But in general you will see a gain with the seat of the pants dyno, and how long the front wheels stay in the air.

I have seen some people come back and lose 3 hp after porting. If you had a larger bore or some more mods, then it might be worth it. But, if you make the ports too big for the engine, you will just be losing hp.

If its done right, GO FOR IT!

YOur engine builder should ask you all sorts of questions about your seup, whre you ride, what type of fuel. etc, etc. If any potential builder does not ask these type of questions, walk out the door, regardless of how cheap they "think" they are..

Next to pipes, I believe porting is the biggest HP/rpm gainer.

If you lose horsepower by getting it ported, then you were just a science experiment. Its not hard to gain horsepower by porting the cylinders. Heck the castings are horrible on the banshee's. A monkey and an air grinder could help you out even a little bit

Had mine done by CCS in Illinois, and several friends from Indiana have made the trek there to have him do the port work. There will be other considerations to into effect also though like the others said. PM me and i'll send you his email if you are interested. Port work was the next big difference I noticed other than piping it. Definitely worth the money when done by the right hands.
