BigBear question
#1
HI. I have a 2000 Bigbear 400 4x2 and am looking at putting some new rubber on. Have been looking at some 27" ITP 589's or 27" mud lites, question is can I put on 27" tires on stock rims and without lift kit, and which tires do you prefer? thanx

i dont have too much advice for you, i'm still ordering my tires. you can put any tire on any rim as long as the rim size matches the tire, and the tire width cant be bigger than six inches wider than the rims. From looking, i think you could get about 27s or 28s under the big bear cauling without problems. As with the choice in tires, I'm very impressed with 589s because of their weight and traction in the snow. But the mudlites are supposed to be a very similar tire. However, mudlites have big lugs and i've heard they wear down easily, so i'm sticking to 589s. I am curious if i'm going to lose any low-end when i get bigger tires, my friend with a 92 BB 350 put 27in. blackwater xts on and said he lost too much low-end, but they did great on his Kodiak 400. If you get new tires in the next few months let me know if you notice any power changes. ...another thing, i've heard extremely good things about the highlifter performance kit and the K&N power kit (5-6HP increase minumum on average from what I hear) check out http://www.atvextreme.com its a real great site for info.
