Default Blaster Mods?

Well I'm a long time sleder that has jusy purchased his first quad, a 03 Blaster. I've been reading through most off the Blaster posts already but still have some questions. My plan is to ride a relatively stock bike while scraping together the extra cash for a big bore kit. Can the speed limiter be pulled of the machine? Is 12mm the ideal setting for this? What's the proven airbox mod that can free up this ckocked off intake? Is it that advantageous to pull the oil injection off? Any other recommended mods besides changing the suspension and these freekin bouncy tires? Thanks.

for the air box - get an uni filter and drill 6 1 inch holes in the lid. get rid of those stupid tires and rims. get some 20 inch tires and 10 inch rims. i like fast trekkers(jmo). flip the fronts to get better handling. for the injector it up to you. i left mine on cause everybody i ride with and my other quad are all 4 stroke and if i need some of there gas it's no problem. but if you do keep it on just make sure you keep it over 1/4 full or more. mines a 91 and never failed. i never let mine under a 1/2. also get a pipe and rejet. won't have to get rid of the rev limiter. once you change the pipe it revs higher. hopefully this helps.

Thanks BLASTERDEVIL2 for the advice! A wider stance would be nice so what exactly do you mean when you say "flip the fronts"? Have the 03's been plagued with oil injector pump problems as well? I'll be riding northern lower Michigan trails and state land which is loose and hard packed sand with some mud, any thoughts on which tires would work the best in this? Of course I want as mush straight line traction but also would like a little side bite for the corners. How well do the combustion chambers on these work? Is there enough to rechamber or do most just deck the head to up the compression? What's a safe squish for premium fuel for these? Thans a lot for the help!

i personally like the fast trekkers. get the head ported its like night and day difference. what i mean about flippin tires is turn the rims inside out. take them off and turn them around and put them back on. but the best bang for the buck is a pipe.

On the 03 Blaster the tires stems hit the disc brakes. You may be able to get smaller stems etc.

port and suspension is gonna take all if not more than his 700$....
go simple and get the basics... pipe, filter and reeds. then over time get the suspension and port work done.
