Slim- I am not sure what the coating is 100 percent but.... It is a gray material that is applied and then baked in a oven for a few hours. Then it is burnished?? what ever that is. That is done to the top of the piston and the underside of the combustion chamber. The piston skits get a darker grey material applied to them. The journals were the camshaft goes are coated with yet another tyoe of friction release as well as the rocker arn. After the cyclinder is bored and honed a dry poweder is run onto it.

Now what i do know about the coatings is

1. They are tough as hell. My motor was apart about every 2 months last year checking on stuff and the coatings were holding up fine. I say they work, i believe in them. I saw a magazine article on a small block chevy that was built and then dynoed. It made like 420hp. It was then taken apart and everything was coated and back to the dyno. The new reading was 460 HP. Reduce friction on moving parts for free horsepower.

Thanks for the information 14mins. I was thinking of having this applied to my engine and I wanted some information on how it increases power and also decreases friction so I appreciate the info. I've already got my engine down so maybe i'll send the top end to them and let them do it. Decisions Decisions.
