This could be the start of rod problems with forged pistons
#1
Check out this old thread. The theory on rod breakage with the stock bore these days is that people are just slapping in the forged piston to the stock bore and not providing more clearance that the forged piston needs. The bore is too tight.
This thread seems to point to the fact that people are in fact just slapping it in without measuring the clearances.
Food for thought.

Wow, that didn't come out how it should have.
How the heck do i link to the thread that is listed at the bottom of the original post without it getting displayed all screwed up?

My theory on that is, everyone who has had the rod failure, has the '01 to '02 tranny upgrade (due to tranny failure or just switched it) Which in much testing by companies, is the cases were not alligned properly (ie. on a small block v-8, if you mix up the main bearing caps you need to rebore/reallign the journal area or you could damage your crank) If this made any sence, heres my opinion.

Boy, I hope it ain't the 02 tranny conversion since I just did that!
I had my cylinder bored and honed to the correct tolerance so I know that's right.
Tell you what, I'll let you guys know if my rod breaks and then I'll be the proof to the theory if it does since I've got the 02 conversion
My money is on the bore being too tight too, but who knows!?!?!
