banshee jetting....please help!
#1
I would like some input on this setup, I have 2003 banshee with toomey t5's, pro design with k&n filter no box lid and I was running 290's main jets with stock pilot jets. The bike fell flat on its face in the midrange. The guy at the yamaha bike shop told me to try running 300 mains with 35 pilots. He said that this would fix the problem with midrange. the reason the 290's with stock pilots didn't work he said was because I was running the lid off and the jetting that comes with toomeys are for a foam filter with the lid on. Does this jetting sound about right? I run mostly pismo, or central valley.

I would go to 300 or 310 mains and try it with the stock pilots. If it is revving well but the midrange is flat you may want to raise the needle a notch. If the midrange is boggy then drop the needle. Really, though it sounds like you need to go another size or 2 up onthe mains. I would go with 310 mains first.

Well I am now running 300 mains with 35 pilot jets and toomey neddles on 4th clip from top, seems to have better throttle response inthe midrange,it doesn't want to cut out like it did before. I have not taken it out for a test run, (neighbor get pissed!) but just revving it up in my back yard it seemsto sound better.
thanx for the info,

The 35 pilots may or may not work for you. I use stock pilots at anything from sea level to 11,000+ feet and have no problems. If it is boggy off idle you may need to change the pilots back, if it fine off idle then you're good to go.
