im just wondering what all you people do after you wash your raptors. Ive read all the post about how to wash them and what to use to shine them. But do u do anything after wash? Grease? i pretty sure i remember reading someone say that they give their engine and parts a bath in wd40...is this correct? any tips would help. thanks

 

After the wash, I take the air hose to it to get all setting water off of the engine and harder places to reach. Then I give the chain a good splash of lubricant. Thats pretty much it......[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-cool.gif[/img]

does oil/wd40 hurt electic terminals/wires/etc? Can i put it everywhere or will the oil mess some stuff up? is there anywhere i shouldnt put it? thanks

 

I use automotive engine degreaser to help get of the dirt or sand that sticks to the oil or grease. Pledge is the key to the plastic (lemon for that lemmony fresh smell????) Be sure to sure chain lube made for chains with o-rings

 

The cool thing about WD-40 is that it's safe to use on EVERYTHING!

 

except o-rings. It is my understanding WD-40 eats o-rings, so becarefull around your chain. This my not be factual info, but if your going to lube your chain anyway just its not going to hurt to not spray it.

 

does wd40 remove rust...just curious. Are the nuts and bolts stainless steel. It has been really cold all the times i have ridden my new rappy so far and after washing it it hasnt been warm enough to dry up and there is a rust residue on the bolts by the swingarm. Is this just a residue from water continuously remaining on metal instead of drying off or are the bolts rusting out. If its just residue, does WD remove this.

Just to make sure i have this correct, WD/oil prevents seals/oring/gaskets from drying out and rotting correct? Theres a rubbery bumper thing on the bottom of my rear shock i dont know what its called but it appears its used to acts as a last resort shock absorber if the shocks bottom out so they bottom on that instead of slam on metal. Should i keep that lubed? thanks

 

Wouldnt hurt to lube it, might as well! Lube everything you think might need it, it cant hurt, can only do it for the better.

 

1) I use simple green or orange blast for the tough stuff
2) clean the chain with WD40
3) bucket of hot water, lemon joy, and wash mit to wash it
4) blast it with the hose
5) dry with a towel and hit the tight spots with air compressor
6) ride it down the street to get water out of the chain.
7) chain wax for the chain
8) grease the zerts
9) spray 2001 on the plastic
if you are worried about WD40 on rubber use silicon spray lube instead

 

o...is silicon spray better. I dont know much about the different types of lubes. Thanks
