Default Raptor vs. Banshee Part 1

OMG! 165/170?! Thats soooo huge for dynojets! Thats bigger than my mains, I'm runnin 160/165 and it's running great! When I was running the DJ kit I had a full pipe and no airbox lid with a proflow kit and I ran 3rd clip, 148/150 mains, and stock pilot 3 turns out and that gearing and I stomped every piped rappy and banshee!

Default Raptor vs. Banshee Part 1

BigBubba,

I had the 148/150 DJ combo when I was running just the K&N with my lid in place and a W/B slip on.It ran like a champ with that set up.When I added the Yoshi and the Pro Design and took the lid off it ran like $hit so I went to Makuni jets and needles in the 170/175 size and #25 pilots. It ran a little on the fat side,so I emailed DJ and ask them for their recomendations, So that the 80.00 I spent on their kit wasn't sitting on my shelf. The specs that I posted forBlacktractor were what they sent me.As soon as I get the new jets,I'll post how they work.

I have a feeling it's gonna be wayyy to rich. I only ran at the coast which calls for richer jetting and it still ran great with 148/150. I was running a full yoshi at the time.

Big bubba what jetting are you at now? I run a 160/165 with no airbox and yosh pipe and GYT-r jet kit.

I think the 25 pilot jets made the diffrence in my bike ,it's ran strong and fast for a pipe and a jet kit.

I would run 25 pilot jets,I run at sea level and up to 4000' so my jetting is 160/165, 2 3/4 out F/M/S,and i run with no lid,it ran great and strong all the way up the powerband,I dynoe'd 47 HP with the mods i listed...It will be a 686 by the end of the month..

I once was like you, but listened to my friend and took his advice and now it runs good, there are a few other things to check, like float level, adjust the valves, and clean the carbs to have a faster then average rappy..Text47 HP

Black tractor I think your mains are ok with the Dynojet but your needle needs to be in the 4th from the top. The Sparks pipe wants more in the mid range. as for pilots I'd go with the 25s thats what I'm running at 5200 feet and it gave me good bottom end. So for you I'd run 25s with atleast 3 turns out. As far as Dynojets instruction they have always been wrong when I used them BUT love there jet kit though

PatsRaptor,
You are right, the instructions that they give you are just to get you in the ball park!Nothing is going to beat an assortment of jets and 2 hours on a dyno. It's the fine tuning that makes the difference between 2 Raptors of the same CC's running the hill!

Dude by simply changing your jets, it's not going to help you to beat a tuned banshee running Toomeys sorry!
Your probably going to have to go big bore to be able to take him.

If by a mericle you happen to chase him down, if he simply ports his banshee or runs race gas w/ higher domes you are history.

You better have a lot of money to run with moded 2 strokes.

My mods on my banshee below without even running a big bore have me at almost 70 hp.

I promise you that you can't come even close to reaching those hp #'s with any 4 stroke ATV on a stock bore.

It's impossible!

cctman: LOL! Jets make sooo much difference! I gained 13 HP on the dyno just from jets! Don't say jets wont help you out that much cause it's not true at all! A well tuned Raptor with pipe/filter/dynojets will beat a piped banshee. If your jetting is at the slightest bit off it can change the whole way your bike runs and performs, jetting is critical IMO. I've noticed that jetting in 4-strokes is alot more critical than in 2 strokes and you get alot better performance with really good jetting out of a 4 stroke.
