Ask the Editors: A Moment of Silence for the Kawasaki KFX450R
As much as we’d like to tell you it was an oversight, if you look carefully the KFX450R shown on Kawasaki’s site is disclaimed as the 2014 model. This is significant because even if absolutely no changes were made to the machine between model years, the company would still disclaim it a 2015 if were one based on manufacturer date and VIN #.
What this means is that it’s likely Kawasaki shut down manufacturing of the model at the 2014 model year and will continue to sell and market the machine until all of the remaining inventory is liquidated and another great ATV will go down into the history books.
We were always partial to the Kawasaki on account of its versatility; it could used as a solid trail machine or turned into a fire breathing race quad with minimal fuss.
Of course, if the market suddenly shifted and demand began to skyrocket, it is entirely possible Kawasaki could fire up the ol gears of manufacture once again but we fear the writing in on the wall for the KFX450R in the fashion of models like the Suzuki LTR450 before it.
