ATV Industry Company Profile: SealSavers

Think fast- what could a UTV, ATV, motorcycle and mountain bike possibly all have in common? Oh you mean besides the fact that they all have wheels? They have seals of course. Seals are those oft taken-for-granted little rubber grommets nestled within our vehicles’ suspension designed to keep internal air and oil chambers separate from one another.

While most of us view them as one of hundreds of tiny nuances that go into the successful operation of an all-terrain-vehicle, one company saw them as something in need of protection from the harsh conditions commonly associated with off-roading.

Enter SealSavers, a company with over 16-years of experience and a literal knack for isolating pieces and bits that could use a little additional protection then building something that perfectly fills the need. How can we be so sure that theirs are solid ideas? Try browsing their catalog without saying the words, “Why didn’t I think of that?!”

Since their inception and the creation of the original SealSavers motorcycle fork leg skins, they’ve gone on to have developed a complete line of products that offer protection for the body, ATV, UTV or mountain bikes. Chances are if you own something with suspension seals, SealSavers has something to protect them.

What’s the secret to their success? They cite a regimen that consists of a rigorous research and development process across most all motorsport technology. As a matter of fact, SealSavers products have been used to win the prestigious Baja 1000 and Baja 500 races multiple times. These grueling events are considered by many to be some of the toughest races in the world which many starters never finish. There just may be a kernel of truth to the idea of protection serving as the ultimate race strategy.

So exactly how do these guys accomplish so lofty a goal? Simple science- Dirt, dust and mud causes the fork seals to wear out thanks to friction, causing poor handling and performance. SealSavers have been specifically developed using high-quality neoprene for protecting reciprocating metal-rubber contact areas, eliminating dirt, dust and mud from entering while reducing friction at the point of contact. The end result is increased performance and life-span of the seals and wipers.

This makes a lot of sense for shocks but we began this profile by saying these guys make a lot of goodies designed to protect a lot of different things. Some of our favorite examples? The BootSaver; a band designed to wrap around the enclosure of your boot to keep the muck, snow and water out and the warmth in. The BarSaver; a small loop that you slide over your ATV’s bars so that you can attach a tie-down strap without ever having to actually make contact with the metal hooks and finally the WatchSaver; another little band designed to keep that new Apple iWatch clean and safe even when the rest of you shows up home looking like The Mud Man of Borneo.
