Make sure they scan the system with the HDS, then do an ecm reset. Almost sounds like a coolant temp sensor is bad/out of range or not plugged in.
There is a way to pull codes by jumping across 2 wires in the diagnostic connector and going through a key on proceedure while doring this, to make codes come up on the display. when this proceedure is used, it does not inform you after the code if it is open or shorted as the HDS does by noting a 1 or 2 after the code Then again, you need a breakdown of the codes. In that case I don't have them memorized as of date and need to reference my manual back at my shop
