good winch for 2006 rancher
I am looking to put a winch on my 06 trx 350fm rancher 4 x 4..... any suggestions ? who has the most bang for the buck! What brand should I buy and what not to buy! How much pulling power should I look at ? And, are they hard to install and wire? any suggestions would be great ! Thanks in advance-- Marty B

good winch for 2006 rancher
I enjoy the viper max winches.....better bang for your buck. I have a Rancher AT and use the 3500 vipermax winch on it. If I purchased another winch I would buy this one. Get the the rope not the steel cable. Do a lot of reading on the net and forums. Educate yourself on it as much as possible. It is not hard to put in just time consuming.

good winch for 2006 rancher
I have a Rancher 420 and just installed a Warn 2500 with synthetic rope and it works great! The price is higher than some other brands but I ride alone alot and do not want to get stuck if a "bargain" winch breaks down. Installing it took about 3 hours, wiring was not too bad. I got the hot line off of my 12V plug and mounted the contacter in the space behind the battery and bolted it to the back of the storeage area. I have some pictures at home if needed.
Remember to buy the mount plate that goes with your ATV, the standard mount usually won't work. Also, a Warn 1500 will not fit a Rancher w/o the free spool switch rubbing the frame. That's why I sent it back and got a 2500.
I got a lot of good tips from this forum regarding mounting etc.
