Is there a way to test the ecm or whatever its called b4 I order one?

Ok, I think I found the problem. After checking & rechecking & rechecking and following troubleshooting methods on these forums, I realized, after making another problem checklist and going down the line and checking them off, I HAVE NO POWER ON THE RED/YELLOW WIRE AT THE 5 PIN CONNECTOR AT THE ECU !!! Where does this wire get its power from ?????? I feel SOOOO stupid for not finding this earlier.....

 

Found the source of power. Located under the seat by the fuse block. It's a 4 prong plug that hooks into a ????? What do you call that little black box. 4 pin connection. According to a schematic, its called a starter relay???
Also, now the reverse light stays on.....and now it won't start b/c of this reverse light????? I could really use some help..........
