taking the choke off of 400EX?

Why not do it? Oh and thrshr you WILL be able to start your bike if you jet it correctly. You just have to bump up the pilot jet a few sizes and she'll fire right up. You don't NEED a choke at all. You know the attitude in these forum pages really sucks. You people need to stop bashing each other and actually try to help each other. Go over to exriders.com once and read some of their forums. No one posts something just to bash on someone else. It's all helping info.

You can remove the choke even if you live in a cold environment. I did the same thing to my old Kawie 550 jet ski. What you do is get a primer kit. It basically puts a T into your fuel line and this is connected to a little plunger that you can mount where you like. When the bike (or ski) is cold, you just pump the plunger a few times and it pulls some fuel out of the tank and injects it into your carb. Usually the fuel fitting that it connects to on the carb just fits where the old choke plate used to mount. Again, this is on a jet ski, but it could easily be adapted to an ATV. Just trying to let you know you can do it, but it may take a little bit of extra work and may or may not be worth it. You can order a primer thru any place that sells watercraft. They may not know what you are talking about but they can order one from their catalogs. One benefit of it is instant starting and less drain on your battery because you are throwing fuel right into the carb, before the engine is even cranked. Good luck.
