I bought one of the first Rubicons, and still haven't had any transmission problems, yet alone a failure. And to your point, that is the same transmission as the Rubicon, but with a torque converter replacing the swashplate. So, that means it's a tried and true transmission, except for the new TC. And they did not scrap the Rubicon's swashplate tranny, as the Rubicon will continue to use it. Honda felt that the Rincon needed a more responsive, sporty transmission, while the Rubicon would keep the more utilitarian swashplate-equipped tranny (with the low-range).
I did get a kick out of the Polaris guy mentioning how the Rincon will be harder to repair on the trail. Like the Polaris Sportmans are n't already in the same boat (IRS, auto tranny, etc)?

This has been very interesting! It appears that the new Rincon has alot of followers and just may be the ultimate 4x4. As some mentioned though, the local dealers are going to command top dollar for these quads until the "new" wares off. I would still like to see some pictures of the Rincon out in the elements, on the trail, maybe even on a track! Who knows, the Rincon vs. the Industry battle will continue to rage on which will be good for the industry. If the Rincon proves to the best, I know the other manufactures will spend the dollars to get back in the game. Until then, that Kawasaki 650 is looking very, very good!
