I was out riding this last weekend and on Sunday I had problems getting my machine started. Here's what is happening. When you hit the starter it turns over once or twice and then the starter grinds very slowly for a second and then stops. So I let off on the starter button and try again. Then it'll usually start. The battery was the original, 13 years old, got a new one figuring that was the problem. I put in the new one and it still does the same thing. Last year the brushes in the starter were replaced so that should still be fine. I just changed the oil before the trip so it had fresh oil. A couple of years ago the cooling fan went out and it was riden for a while like that, maybe a year. So it may have some engine damage. When the engine is hot and you would try to start it again, it would do the same type of thing that it does all the time now. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanks for any help.
