Default speedo awd wires

just thought i would pass this along as when i was reading the service book i was checking out the speedo wire harness plug. anyways the no# 16 pin(brown and white)wire is the awd coil and the no#6 pin(brown) is the ground. im pretty sure these are the 2 wires that would overide a bad speedo to make the awd work. imo.

Default speedo awd wires

I just grounded the brown and white wire and the AWD light came on? Do I need to add the brown wire to it?

If you have the hub activated awd you may have to go further and have a better ground on the hub coil wires also.
If you have the centralized awd, have voltage to the power wire at the diff, you might try to jump the ground wire from the diff to a better ground and see if it engages. If it doesn't,could be an internal problem such as a cracked/damaged roller cage that many had.

Awd wiring would would be the same no matter which speedo you have. Some functions may not be shown on the 2006 speedo, but wouldn't matter if you jump the brown/white wire to the brown or a good frame ground as you're bypassing the speedo anyway. Easy way to tell is to jack the atv up with all wheels off the ground and see if the awd works. If not then try the grounding method at the diff or hubs, which ever one is applicable. From your other post you have the 700 which were bad on roll cages cracking also. Aluminum ones are offered to solve this problem if grounding or power is not the issue on the awd not activating.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Polaris-Sportsman-600-700-ALUMINUM-Front-Differential-Roll-Cage-3234167-3234455-/161650664345?hash=item25a3216399&vxp=mtr
