Well that sucks.

 

Might be dwelling or living in the past,BUT the old LT230 Quad Sports of the 80's were the worst I encountered on reliability! Don't know how many top ends I did on em over the years! Plus the early Arctic Cats used Suzuki motors and same thing! Haven't kept up with em,maybe they still do? OPT

not all 850s are bad. I just got the lemon from hell

 

4 guys that need to learn when to use low range??
Some belts may fail because the clutch or driven has a issue, but most belts fail because the operator thinks its ok for the clutch to slip on the belt all the time because they are too lazy or ignorant to shift from hi to low, or don't use low when they are on trails where they won't be going over 30 mph.
Also swapping to larger (read taller) tires increases the gear ratio, adding to the above problem.

Could be. I just bought my wife a 12 Sportsman 400 HO so we'll see how it holds up.

 

Go to a large dealer that sells many brands and ask the shop mechanic. He will tell you which is the least reliable.

 

Not really- that's just more of an indication of which brand is sold / available in that area.
No new ATV is any more or less reliable than any other.

 

any polaris is junk i rode 4 of them and each broke down on me miles away from my house had to replace the clutch the thing is a pain to start on my sportsman and its only a 2006 i have a 1986 honda 250 fourtrax and i have never taken it to a shop and have never had to fix anything on it, my mom bought it new in 87 everything is stock even the tires starts up rite away in the cold and i have a 07 250ex that runs like it did the day i bought it and i beat the crap out of it.
