I am helping a friend w/a/suzuki eiger 400 4x4 around a 2000 yr. model. When I try to start the engines hits and dies, hit and die. When you pull the spark plug (new plug) and spin the motor over it fires blue for a few seconds and then quits firing, then it will start firing again and quit again. If you keep winding the starter it will eventually start and run good for a while and then it is like you turned the switch off it will die. Please help. Steve931

 

Eiger first year was 2002. It sounds like the flywheel magnets have come loose. The magnets are know to come loose on the flywheel on the 02-04 models. It is not hard to check. You will need to drain oil and pull off the left side of engine. The sooner the better, before you also break the stator by a loose magnet.

If you search on here for intermittent spark you should find this and maybe a couple other possible problem.
