Default 2005 Kodiak 4x4 Leaky Seal?

Hi there..

I had asked this question about a U joint that has a lot of oil on it coming out of the engine/tranny. Half of the joint looks clean, the other half that comes out of the rear seal is wet. It's not super wet, but you can see that it's got oil on it.

Any opinions on this? Here is a picture of it.. This is a 2005 Yamaha Kodiak 450 4x4 Black Carbon

It does not look that bad, just keep a eye on your oil level , if it gets worst to where it,s dripping, seal #13 will be the part you need. I never changed one but it does not look to bad of a chore.

What is that whole assembly called? Looks like there's ujoints on both sides of it. I was thinking that the seal was a part of the engine or transmission but I guess not?

That's the mid drive. The shaft #26 turns the front wheels. #14 yoke is the one in your pic. The seal is about $10.

Ah ok.. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. Maybe I'll just run it this season and keep an eye on it and then next winter plan on pulling that out and fixing it up right. I don't like broken stuff like that lingering around but since I just bought it I'll let it slide since it doesn't look like too bad of a problem.
