Description:
Thank you for checking out my gallery. My name is Anthony and ive been riding ATV's for as long as i can remember. After a 5 year hiatus from the sport i decided to "seize" my fathers 1986 trx250r from his garage and begin a complete rebuild. after removing the spider webs and other critters that called the R home i was ready to start my project. It originally started out with only the "basics" in mind; powder coat the frame, clean up the plastic, etc. However, after a few years out of the sport i was completely out of the picture as to what companies and what resources were available for my quad. My investigation spanned about a month and included resources such as magazines, local business's and the internet, in particular www.ATVconnection.com. With a more in depth knowledge of what was available for the R my Testosterone and Y gene took control of the rebuild and what started out to be a "clean-up" project turned into a full on money pit of aftermarket parts and accesories. Since the bike had only been ridden in the sand, its condition of teh frame was superb and i chose to stay with it rather than go aftermarket. The frame and other peices were sent to Orange County Plating for a shot of "Candy Red over Chrome" powder coat. It turned out awesome!!. Now it was time to lay down some cash for suspension. My research lead me to TimmyBoy Designs and i picked up some 2/ 1 a-arms and a no-link swingarm (stock length), connected via TCS Zero Preload shocks; triple rate up front and Dual in the rear. Also purchased from Tim was a new steering stem, front bumper, tag bars, Durablue 2/ 2 axle and taper bearing carrier. After some polishing, more powdercoating and a new set of wheels and tires the first stage of the rebuild was complete. once everything was assembled it was time to see what the motor had. in just to kicks teh egine burst to life, not bad after being dormant for 5 years; but what do you expect, its a Honda. =). I found some new riding buddies with the the guys from ATVconnection and Sandbros.com and in march of 2002 i scheduled my return to the dunes with a short but adrenaline packed trip to Dumont dunes. The chassis set-up handled like a champ but i quickly realized taht the 250cc powerplant lacked some muscle. I took a trip to CT racing and Allen Knowles turned me on to his new 350 powervalve. i wanted it in teh worst way possible but my bank account was lacking in funds. but lucky for me (and allens accountant) i had a summer to set aside some money(err, apply for some new credit cards) and before long the R was carring 350 cc's of SMOOTH power. Fast-forward to now, and with a few more coins for some '89 make plastic, IMS footpegs, new rear bumper and a few other items i can say that my project is complete.... well almost. i think for those of you who are in my shoes know all to well that the project is NEVER complete. im looking into trimming up teh rear plastic, a new seat, and... and... well im sure ill find something else it needs. I hope you enjoy the photos, check back as i will be updating the pagethank you, anthony, AKA ELSANCHO
