Video: It’s Not The Flying That Scares Me, It’s The Landing
The flight went well but that landing had to hurt.
Time for a quick lesson in physics. Ever notice at freestyle events and motocross race courses every jump has an equally large (or often even larger) mound of dirt to land upon? Do you know why this is? Because landing on a steep grade turns downward momentum into forward momentum thanks in part to the fact that wheels are round.
This week’s clip shows what happens when a truck breaks a word record for the biggest air and foregoes any sort of landing ramp in the process (a term we call “landing to flat”). Ouch!
