Dear ATVC: Hello, I am new to the ATV scene. I have a 2005 Arctic Cat 500 4×4 with a blown engine (ran out of oil). Wondering if anyone knows what model years will fit the 2005 500 non-EFI chassis.

You can plug & play engine swap for any of the 500cc 4×4 automatics produced between model years 2005 – 2007. We have heard of successful transplants of the 400cc Artic Cat mill as well but not without some customization as the dimensions and mounting did vary slightly between the two models.
The answer really depends on how handy you are with skills like cutting and welding. If doing some modifications to make the swap work is within your wheelhouse, there were earlier generation AC 500s that you may be able to shoehorn into place but if, like us, you’d rather be able to simply bolt the engine right into place and be on your way, look for a used 2005, 2006 or 2007 Arctic Cat 500 engine.
