Ask the Editors: Operation Ignition Safety Switch Location

If you were looking down upon the machine as you would from the saddle, it can be found on the lower left side of the machine just in front of the ignition coil.

In our experience, the best way to locate it is to use the machine’s wiring as your guide. Start literally with the handlebar-mounted ignition switch and trace the green wire back. The final run to the switch itself should be light green & red. The following schematic will make the task much easier:
