Ask The Editor: Can I Fuel Inject My Older Quad?

Dear ATVC: I have a 1996 Honda Foreman 400 4×4. It works great but I’m tired of dealing with the carb on this engine. Can someone point me into the direction of an EFI system that I can make work on this ATV?
Fuel injection is incredibly convenient when it’s working well but a lot of us take for granted the sheer number of parts involved to make the system function.
There are distributors on eBay, though, that offer universal EFI conversion kits that work on any carbureted single cylinder engine like this one here.
Installation on these kits can take a couple hours but they usually supply everything you need in one box – including software that will allow you to adjust your injection system’s fuel mapping.
Expect to pay about $300 for one of these kits, though.
