ATV Gas Cap with Fuel Gauge
Is it possible? It is!

Dear ATVC: Anywhere I could maybe get a gas gauge cap for an 86 Suzuki Quadrunner?
After searching around I’m guessing they didn’t actually make one but is there a universal something out there I could use?
Looking also for a 02 Bombardier gas gauge cap. Any ideas?

What you want is possible, but sadly, will not be a click, check out and done affair. Many aftermarket companies offer fuel gauge caps as we’re sure you’ve noticed but they are all brand and in most cases model specific. The reason you aren’t going to find a universal is that the diameter and thread of the filler is typically specific to the make and model in question.

That said, we have found one available for Suzuki ATVs (direct eBay link here) but what you’ll probably want to do is to take very specific measurements of your stock cap before placing an order. Or – if you want to chance it, be ready to send it back if it’s not compatible.

Dennis Kirk says they do offer a universal cap with gauge for $26.96 that sounds like exactly what you’re after – but given the reviews, it sounds to us like “universal” is a relative measurement here.

The other option you have is to rig something up. Despite how complicated these things sound, the truth is so long as the float reaches into the tank and the gauge face is visible to you, there’s nothing that says you can’t hone out your stock gas caps, slip the gauge and insert through the hole with a gasket and call it a day either.

If the gauge doesn’t have to be cap-mounted, fuel gauges for Suzuki’s entire line that install in minutes can be found here.

Lastly, don’t forget to look into the compatibly of your machine’s cap with other models. We found an OEM Suzuki fuel gauge that works with a wide variety of Suzuki ATV models but can’t say for certain where the compatibility train ends. Don’t be afraid to call your local Suzuki (and Can-Am) dealers and ask if they have anything in stock.
