The older Polaris quads were unique to say the least.

Dear ATVC: I have been brought a 1995 Polaris 300 4×4 that’s in parts. I have it mostly together now and am trying to find out what type of transmission fluid I can use as well where it goes. I also need to know what type of crankcase oil is used and where it’s filled.

At the time of its production, Polaris was still using old style graphite transmission fluid. The next model year saw the official switch to Polaris Premium Synthetic AGL Plus Gear Lube (or as it’s commonly known just “AGL”).

Funnel into the dipstick/ filler 20oz of AGL (for chain case) in the transmission.

As for the crankcase 10w-30 is fine (100cc) but there is a bit of a process when it comes to refilling. This video on changing the oil on the 96 should provide some insight.

The remaining fluids are as follows:

Front Hubs: 5oz in each hub of Demand Drive Plus
Coolant: 2qts of 60/40 or 50/50 mix of standard green automotive coolant
Brake Fluid: DOT4
