Hello ATV Connection readers, welcome to our latest feature! Due to the rising popularity of the Ask the Editor forum, we have decided to expand the idea and post responses to the homepage.

For those of you who are new to this, basically, if you have an ATV related question, you can ask our editors for help/advice. Create a forum account if you don’t already have one, then create a new thread in our Ask the Editor section. It’s easy and fun!

So, without further ado, here are this week’s questions…

Dear ATVC:

What size jets are needed for a 03 Warrior 350 with a big gun slip on and K&N air filter, when I got her it had a 132 in it. I have already rebuilt the carb and dropped in a 145, runs better but still running lean. From what I have read 150 will be plenty but what size pilot jet is needed.

Thanks in advance,

It just so happens we’ve performed very similar modifications to a 2004 Yamaha Warrior several years back. If memory serves we had actually gone up to a 150 from a 147.5 main jet before being satisfied with the results (and depending upon elevation, we have heard of some tuners actually going up to 155 without issue). Yes as you have noticed, the result of the modifications was a lean condition.

However we managed to compensate without having to touch the pilot jet. Instead try moving the needle jet down one clip (in other words moving the needle itself up slightly to richen up the mixture). A larger main jet and a bit of fine-tuning to the needle jet’s position should be enough to get you running smooth.

Dear ATVC:

I need help with a 2008 Tao Tao Model: ATA 110 quad: For fine-tuning the carb and the position of the choke arm, is it up for on /and down for off? Do you have a picture of the diaphragm for the carburetor for this model? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The trouble with brands like Tao Tao is that accurate documentation of their components can be nearly impossible to find. There is no dedicated dealer network to fall back on for such info either. They can (and do) alter specifications without notice.

That said, here is a photograph containing the information you seek on what is said to have been the carb used on most 110 cc Tao Tao ATV models in 2008.

Based on the arrow embossed on the choke arm, we would suspect that the choke would be on when the lever was up.
