Ask the Editors: What the Heck is a BNG?
BNGs can be considered a feature. Sorta.
Sometimes we as the media throw terms around for so long that their origins become lost even on the journalists using them. BNG stands for Bold New Graphics. And what it really means in plain English is that there were no changes to the model from one year to the next aside from the stickers.
Its real origins come from the manufacturer’s marketing brochures themselves as, rather than saying a particular model is exactly the same this year as it was to last, Bold New Graphics makes it sound a lot more impressive/ desirable.
In truth almost every ATV ever created has years where the only update is to the stock sticker and fender color schemes because manufacturers stick to the tried and true logic that there is no sense fixing things that aren’t broken.
