ATV Industry Facts: Did You Know?
We’ve seen this part but what about the rest?

As ATV race fans, we all have some experience in what a GNCC event looks like in action. However, how many of us have stopped to ponder the preparation and behind the scenes deals take place to make such a giant affair happen?

In an article by the Bowling Green Daily News, light is shed on a lot of these realities and it is undeniably interesting.

It begins with a meeting on January 7th at City Hall to discuss an event proposed for May 16-17th. A pitch explaining that a $3 million economic impact for the region and a conservatively estimated 15,000 attendance number would do good things for the resident leads to the casting of a “yay or nay” vote by officials.

In this case it’s a solid “yay” with the vote going 5-0 in favor of hosting the race. Other conditions of the deal? The promoters agree to pay the city $3,000 to use a 30-acre former landfill, the company also agrees to restore the land to its original condition within 45 days of the event’s conclusion. It also agrees to contact all residents within 1.5 miles of the event to inform them about it and to provide free tickets.
