Built for the dunes!

undefined    Every Thanksgiving holiday, Chris Kasper from Menasha, Wisconsin makes the 40-hour drive to the Imperial Sand Dunes. He says the drive is long and boring but the end result is well worth it! Chris usually rides a modified TRX400EX in the dunes. Last year (2002) he decided he wanted a custom sand-screaming machine that better fit the sand duning lifestyle. He set out to build a very powerful custom CRF450R with plenty of attention to detail!

undefinedChris started with a 2002 Honda CRF450R motorcycle engine. On the dyno he said it made 44 HP. He wanted to keep it reliable so he added an FMF exhaust, which gave him an additional 4 HP. To keep it cool he added a large capacity aluminum GT Thunder radiator. Chris set the CRF motor into a Houser rolling chassis which features chrome A-arms and swingarm. He used Elka shocks all the way around sitting on ITP C-Series wheels with 10 paddle haulers to get this dune screaming machine’s power to the ground. TRX400EX brakes were used with stock 400EX hubs out back and HardKor Engineering hubs up front. Chris paid plenty of attention to detail by adding lots of polished aluminum goodies like the R.I.S. Designs front and rear bumper, AC nerf bars, aluminum shock reservoir clamps, and many more smaller items. He covered this beast with Full Bore plastic and a chrome tank cover.

undefinedThis custom CRF450R screams through the dunes! Both at the hill and in a flat drag this creation is quick and hard to beat. During our racing at the flat drags no 4 stroke could touch it and even the big bore 2 strokes had a hard time. Chris (who weighs next to nothing) would dump the clutch and he was GONE!

We were very impressed with this very beautiful CRF450. The attention to detail was amazing and the power only made us yearn for the long awaited TRX450R.

Cya next year Chris!
