The Durocab Advantage

undefinedWhether we ride for work or play, our environment plays an important role in our level of comfort. The outside temperature frequently controls how we prepare for our ride. While warm weather is never a problem, when the weather turns nasty comfort is hard to maintain. That is, unless your ATV is equipped with a Durocab from Outback Inc. This well constructed ATV cab enclosure produces a water-tight comfort zone which protects from cold temperatures as well as precipitation.

How it all began:

Marty Wright is an avid outdoorsman, spending countless hours hunting and fishing in the wilderness. Marty began his quest to produce a comfortable way to ride after an uncomfortable huntingundefined trip to the Rocky Mountains. Marty and his family would normally spend a week hunting in the extreme mountainous environment battling cold, wind, rain and snow. Marty explained, After spending a miserable week hunting in rain, sleet and snow we knew there had to be a better way! We would freeze while driving an ATV up to 3 hours just to get to where we would begin hunting.  I told my dad that there must be a better way for ATV travel. We need to travel more comfortably and especially keep from freezing.

The moment Marty returned home his work began. At first his designs were crude, heavy metal, structures. Frequently other riders would just look at them and wonder, why? That is until the weather turned foul forcing most riders to turn back. Then they finally understand the concept. During foul weather Marty and his undefinedfamily would continue hunting and actually began to enjoy the harsh conditions. As time progressed, so did Martys design. His crude, heavy, sheet-metal cabs became refined into strong but lighter weight square-tube constructed frames covered in Duponts rugged Cordura canvas.  The framework is now produced so that it can be shipped more efficiently and after it arrives may be bolted together in about one hour.

Marty was proud to point out, Our customers can weld, bolt or screw almost any attachment that they can come up with to their Durocab frame. Not many of our competitors have that benefit. We have attached windshield wipers, 12-volt fans, rear-view mirrors, gun holders, cup holders and even auto glass windshields onto the Durocab frame without any problems.

Installation:

Our test cab came bundled quite nicely with easy to read and understand instructions. Any questions we had could be directed to Durocab via e-mail or a phone call.

undefinedFollowing the illustrations and photos, we began by constructing the front and rear of the main frame. Each cross-member bolts to the front and rear of the main frame using hex-head screws. After loosely bolting the frame together the next step was to install the Cordura covering. The Camouflage Cordura cover just slipped over the metal framework and was fastened in place by the use of several elastic tie bands. Next we installed the jeep-style doors which just slip into the framework with very little effort. At this point it is best to have a helper available to help line up the front and back section of the frame so that the doors have an even gap surrounding the door’s frame. Then tighten the center adjustment undefinedsection of the main frame and attach the front and back of the main frame to the ATV’s racks using the supplied hardware. Each ATV may mount just a bit differently due to the type of storage rack but the Durocab comes with several installation options. Lastly, after all points of the cab are tight and fitting as they should, the bottom panels of the doors must be attached to the frame. Again, this step will require two people. Have a helper hold the plastic panel in place on the outside of closed door. Then taking a marker draw an outline of the fender openings. Next, trim any excess plastic so that the bottom panel has a custom fit and will provide the most protection. This panel can then be attached to the lower frame of the door by screws or by using black wire-ties. Total installation time was around one hour. Everything went smooth and with out any problems.

Durocab Advantage:

Thanks to the Durocab we found that we needed less clothing to remain comfortable and that we could enjoy riding in any type of weather. Although we have not experienced true winter weather conditions yet, our mornings and evenings have been quite cool. The Durocab has convinced us that its protection works well. While testing in rain and cool temperatures the cab kept our test rider warm. We actually felt heat from the ATVs engine!  Dont think that the cab will be uncomfortable on a nice fall day. The rear window can be rolled up and the doors removed for ventilation! One important discovery made during our test was that we were able to still use some of our inside rack space for storage and everything inside stayed warm and dry. The Durocabundefined can be accessorized by the use of a front bag that stores clothing and items such as a phone or GPS. We found the cab to be very strong, well made and at 9 a truly great bargain. We’re sure you will have many years of use from this item. The Dupont Cordura is weather proof, resists rot and ultraviolet rays from the sun. We especially liked the fact that the Durocab can remain on an ATV during trailering. Our driver hit speeds of 65 miles-per-hour with the unit in tow and everything remained tight and intact.

Test Results:

Our test proved Outback’s Durocab is a well made ATV accessory which offered excellent personal protection in harshundefined environments such as in brush or where there were small, lower hanging, tree branches. The protection is not limited to use during hunting or fishing activities, the cab will protect the rider well while plowing snow or working around the farm or ranch. The windshield is made from Strataglass which is a high quality, flexible, plastic material that holds up well to all weather conditions and resists scratching.

This is a quality cab constructed with only the finest materials.  Marty and his family pride themselves on producing a quality product and it shows in the cab. The cabs are 100% American made and are available in Mossy Oak and Realtree camoflage colors. Our staff found the Durocab to be a great addition to any utility ATV. Should you be interested in purchasing a Durocab, contact Marty and if you tell him you learned about his product on the ATV Connection, for a limited time, they are offering free shipping to our readers.
