Product Review – EVS Wrister 2 0
The Problem:
Your wrists are one of the body’s joints that take a pounding while ATV riding. Braces can cut down on some of the shock taken by your bones, but they can be bulky, forgotten on race day, and expensive.
The Solution:
Enter the Wrister 2.0 from EVS, a combination glove/ detachable wrist support system. They go for a pair and come in sizes Small through X-Large and in two color- combinations (black and red).
The Operation:
Aside from a bit of additional bulk and slightly longer cuff elastic, donning the Wrister 2.0 reveals no signs of not being simply any other quality MX glove. Once you apply either one (or both) of the two included wrist supports, the true intentions of EVS become clear.
The rear of the glove is designed to accept (and hold into place) both a wrap around support (Velcro closure) as well as a plastic spine that fits into place between the cuff support and a small pocket on the top of the glove.
It’s entirely up to the user’s discretion to run either of the supports (or both for maximum effectiveness). After several weeks of usage, we decided that the rear support is not inhibiting in the least and offers up a good deal of welcome pressure all the way around the wrist/ forearm. The plastic spine on the other hand, though undoubtedly beneficial, isn’t for everyone. Some of our testers couldn’t come to terms with the limited upward motion that running it instills.
However, those who have experienced chronic wrist pain or are recovering from a wrist injury will certainly appreciate the effectiveness of the system even if range of motion is somewhat compromised.
The Features:
-TPR impact guards on knuckles and fingers
-Air mesh construction for supreme ventilation
-Reinforced single layer palm for increased feel & durability
-Reinforced perforated leather thumb
-Silicone gripper print on fingers for superior grip
The Conclusion:
For wrist brace wearers, the EVS Wrister 2.0 is a must. It integrates the function of some of the finer braces on the market into a system that is no more complex or cumbersome than standard MX gloves.
We’re additionally impressed with the ability to pick and choose supports as the conditions demand.
About the only disadvantage is that at a pair, they are a bit pricier than many standard non-supportive glove options on the market. We have, however, located some deals online that actually made the Wrister more affordable than a standard pair of gloves, not even taking into consideration the added cost of buying dedicated braces. Considering you can run the Wrister with no supports if you choose to, there is really no downside to considering the product.
