Race Tech Components started in 1989 building the Pro Pull Clutch lever, and then in 1996 RTC went national. Brian Marion is the owner and that is who you get on the phone when you call. He is more than happy to answer any questions you have about his products. He stands 100% behind the products he builds, if you are not happy, just return for full credit including shipping both ways, you can’t ask for better service than that. Brian is a racer himself and started building the clutch lever as an improvement over the stock levers. Since then he has added a trick brake lever and now air scoops.

undefined    RTC’s main product is the clutch lever assembly. You might think there is no reason to change the lever assembly you already have, but this one has some advantages over OEM levers. First thing most riders want to do is get rid of the factory parking brake cable, and this leaves a large ugly looking lever assembly. The RTC assembly is simple, easy to adjust and just pretty darn good looking at that. It also reduces clutch pull by 40-45% over stock. This could be major concern if younger riders or women with weaker hands are having problems pulling in the clutch. Addition of heavy duty clutch springs also makes this a desirable addition. The crosshatching on the lever helps make for improved grip and also makes if very trick looking. Installation is pretty straight forward and it took us only about 10 min to install and adjust. The lever really does work! It’s very high quality and should last a very long time.

undefined    Now, a brake lever is a brake lever, right? Well, this one is little different. Made with the same crosshatching and high quality of the clutch lever, this lever has some added adjustments. As you can see in the picture there are two adjustment screws, one out the front and another one on the inside of the lever. The outside screw allows you to adjust the lever closer in or further out from the grip, this can be a real benifit for smaller hands. The brake lever can easily be used with only two fingers, a very common practice among riders. Once you get the lever adjusted for reach, then you can set the inside screw so you get full brake travel. Simple setup, easy to adjust and it works great.

undefined    The newest product for RTC is air scoops and louvers. After we added the 440 big bore to our 400EX we needed something little extra to help keep the bigger cylinder cool. Brian assured us his scoops really did work and were not just “something to stick stickers on”, so we put him to the test. Using a electronic temperature gun we checked the engine temp in serveral places to get a good reading on the temperature. We then installed the scoops. Brian put a lot of work in designing the scoops so they were easy to install and actually did direct enough air to help cool the engine. All necessary bolts are included and this is trully a bolt on accessory, unless you are still running full front fenders. The scoops use existing holes or bolts already in the frame, but one of the bolt holes used is where the bottom front fender brace is bolted on. Now, if you have cut fenders, no problem, if you dont, you will have to rig up some kind of support. Our 400EX still has full fenders so we took the original support rods, cut off the ends, added some more 1/4″ rod and bolted them to the bolts holding the oil tank on. Brian is currently working on some brackets he can include with the hardware, so this problem may not exist for much longer. NOTE: Brian now has fender braces available. See pictures here and here.

Now the test, do they really work? Before installation we checked temperature readings after running on our MX track and also after running down long stretch of road. The readings were pretty close to the same and averaged 200 degrees according to the temperature meter. After installing the scoops we run the same temperature tests again. Now the readings were 185 degrees. A reduction in cylinder temperature of 15 degrees we think is very significant and well worth the costs of the scoops. Yes, they really do work!

All RTC products come with full instructions on installation. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow, and includes diagrams or pictures where needed. We spent less than one hour installing all three products, that is excluding the extra time we used to contruct the new fender brackets.

RTC products are available for most all sport quads. Please contact Brian Marion for more information:
