Yamaha to Challenge Ferrari and Lotus?

Side
When you think of ATV manufacturers who also make cars, Honda might come to mind or maybe Suzuki or Yamaha. Wait, Yamaha?! Yes indeed, the truth of the matter is Yamaha has been quietly producing engines for many auto brands throughout the years whether you’ve known it or not- the Toyota 2000GT, Ford Taurus SHO and Volvo XC90 V-8 just to mention a few.

Things got pretty interesting at this year’s 43rd Tokyo Motor Show when Yamaha unveiled its Sports Ride concept car.
Rear
Yamaha didn’t release an official spec sheet but we can tell by photos that it’s a 2-seater, front-engine/rear-drive platform with a highly luxurious interior. Yamaha knows performance and this beauty would be built using the iStream process developed by famed F1 designer Gordon Murray. As such, the carbon-chassis hot rod is claimed to be rigid and very, very light. Just how light are we talking? 1,654 pounds!
Interior
Of course safety regulation equipment and emissions paraphernalia would bog down the final weight spec were it ever to try and achieve road legality.
Front
Because it is just a concept at this point with no solid production expectations, information like horsepower and price hasn’t been made available. Still, it’s a beauty to behold!
