Default Shorting problem?

I have a kazuma 110 that seems to have a dead short as soon as I connect the battery tried a new battery from my other 110 and it still does it. Stator or ignition problem? Don't see any damaged wires or water damage anywhere. But battery almost welds when I connect the wires. Polarity is correct but almost seems like it is reversed? Any ideas?

All unhacked quads have a fuse in series with all wiring from the battery positive terminal to everything else *other* than the starter motor. Do you know if you have modified wiring? Do you have a fuse feeding the small red wire coming off the (+) battery terminal? The reason I ask this is because if you have a fuse then this would guarantee that the "weld" current isn't going into the main wiring harness because then you would just blow the fuse.

If you have a fuse, then any 'weld' currents would have to be going down the starter motor path. That would start off with the big red wire from the battery to the starter solenoid. Look at this path to the solenoid and see if your have any shorts to ground. Disconnect this wire at the solenoid and see if the current stops.

If you don't have a fuse then there are other things to measure to zero on the problem, but you will also need to plan on wiring a fuse back in. The wiring is easy and the parts are cheap. And help is available of course.

Default Shorting problem follow up

I traced out the wires and also disconnected starter and still did the shorting out. I may have exagerated the size of the short or the battery is low but it still did it. I then unplugged the wires going into the stator and the short stopped but of course the motor doesnt start so well this way so thinking it is in the stator somewhere? Pulling that out now to take a look. Any ideas?

It is probably not your stator at all. It doesn't hook to the battery except through your voltage regulator. Unplug the regulator while leaving the stator plugged in. I'll bet that stops the current also. That also proves you regulator is bad. It may well be that your stator got overheated and damaged too, but that can be tested on the machine with a voltmeter. No need to remove it yet.
