problem with charging
Hello, my son's atv which is a coolster 150cc is not charging. When i disconnect the battery cables its only showing about 1.3 volts coming in on the positive cable. If i disconnect the connector at the rectifier its showing about 25 to 30 volts ac going into the rectifier on the yellow and white wire with it running. But when i plug the connector back on the rectifier and and check the dc voltage coming out the rectifier its only showing the 1.3 volts with engine running. Does this mean the rectifier has gone bad or could it be something else...... Also will a standard 4 prong rectifier work, thanks

I concur with you diagnosis. The regulator is bad.
I wish I could tell you that plugging a 4 pin regulator will solve the problem. It may not. There isn't a 4 pin standard as far as I can tell from the information I have.
Do you have a GY6 engine? From your description it sounds like it. If so, make sure you buy a GY6 *GY6* four pin regulator. Try it, but if it doesn't work then there are some ways to figure out which pin is which on the new regulator. You may have to rewire.
Caution: 110cc machine regulators use the same connector as Gy6 engines. 110cc machine regulators will not work on a GY6, period. Be careful. GY6 regulators usually have fins on the side as well as the top.
