70cc atv starter randomly firing
I'm trying to diagnose an issue on my nephew's 70cc atv (chinese). I do most of the work on my truck, so I figured I'd give this a shot. Here are the symptoms:
Starts fine and runs, but after running for a bit and turning it off, the starter motor fires in pulses, seemingly random, and the machine is just sitting there, with the kill switch down and key out. The only way it will stop, is if I disconnect the battery. Ocassionaly, I will hear a clicking while riding if I start the engine when it enters one of these fits.
Does this sound like anything obvious? I'm combing it over for loose grounds and such, but wasn't sure if these symptoms were a tell-tale sign of something in particular. Am I going in the right direction (loose ground)? Wondering where I should start if it isn't something like a loose wire.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

I totally agree with Lockman0075.
If you have a remote start module disconnect that first.
Then if you still have the problem than disconnect the two *small* wires that go to the starter solenoid (usually there is a connector on pigtail wires). If the problem continues then the solenoid is bad. If it stops after disconnecting the solenoid input wires then we need to look further. But I still bet that Lockman0075 is right on target. Bad remote or bad starter solenoid.
