TaoTao 250 Fuse Size?
#1
I have a VBike TaoTao 250 Utility ATV, what size fuse should this be? It had a glass tube fuse, but the writing is difficult to read. I am think of changing to a blade type fuse holder, but unsure of what size fuse to use. Should it be a 5, 10, 15 or 20 amp fuse? My battery is a 12 volt 12ah. Thanks.

I would put in a 10 amp fuse. That seems to be the consensus on other 250cc quad wiring diagrams (I don't have a diagram for your exact quad).
The fuse value should be set a little higher then the maximum current draw with all loads on - headlights, high beams, brake light, etc. It does not include current to the starter motor, which isn't fused - it comes straight off the battery. Also implied in this, is that the quad stator can keep up with the maximum load (on average) so that the battery isn't run dead as you drive around normally. Since the stators in 250 machines are very similar in output capacity, the fuse values in 250cc machines will also be similar.
