Default Thank you

Thanks for the reply Lynn, and thanks for emailing me the manual.

I solved half the problem. I replaced the spark plug now it runs fine after I start it by jumping over the starter solenoid. Runs to full throttle like it should with new plug.

I think maybe I burned the starter solenoid up by cranking it too long trying to start it with a bad spark plug.

I ordered a new starter solenoid off ebay, I'm hoping that solves the problem.

Thanks again for your help.

The question is whether or not the solenoid is getting actuated. For the solenoid to go "click" and connect the two screw terminals together (like you did manually by jumping it), the two small wires have to have 12 volts applied across them when you do the starting sequence stuff and push the start button. If they don't have 12 volts across them nothing happens, and it's not the solenoid's fault. It hasn't been commanded to do anything. So that would be one thing I'd measure first before ordering a solenoid. Fortunately generic chinese parts are cheap, and there isn't much loss if you buy a part or two that doesn't fix the problem. The down side is that if you're unlucky enough to buy a bad part and install it, you've now not only not fixed the problem but have added another. When you have two problems simultaneously it isn't twice as hard to fix - it's ten times as hard.

While you're waiting for your new solenoid I would measure the DC voltage across the two small wires at the solenoid while attempting to start the quad. Use the DC 20 volt scale. You should see 12 volts.

The starter solenoid activation circuitry involves the fuse, ignition switch, the brake switch, the start button, and all the wiring/connections between those (including ground returns).
