Default Taotao 125cc slight ticking?

I have a 125cc taotao that when its running idle. Theres a ticking lifter sound coming from the header. It runs good and there is a little vibration when throttle top speed for 15 seconds. normal ride dont feel. I want to fix the part that would be bad 100% and dont want to do the extra steps that are not needed. So if someone had to replace the engine valve or piston that maybe felt this or would know a little more then I do it would be great. I'm 165lbs my 2 boys are 62lbs & 98lbs , But still has alot of power when i'm on it. Again it would be great. Thanks

It sounds like your valves need adjusting. First, I would try changing the oil with the recommended 15w-40 oil. I use Shell Rotella. Try using 93 octane gas. These may decrease the ticking sound. The valves should be adjusted the first 20 hours of riding and then again every 100 hours. Here is video on how to adjust the valves.

From what I have been able to gather from this forum is that the intake valve should be adjusted to .004 inches and the exhaust valve should be adjusted to .006 inches. Hope this helps!
