hello new to board i have a few questions regarding a sunl 150 quad.My neice just bought it and the head light's were cut off(the harness)the previous owner had bypassed the kill switch etc.after rewiring the head lights back into the harness plug they dont really work one comes on in high beam(not bright at all) and in low they both glow just alittle.but when i push the start button while its on they get brighter..? any ideas..also where is the I D plates on the frame located and do you have to register them with DMV.all i can find is a engine I D #? Also can you change the exhaust on it ..

But that only tests the 12 volt supply side which only half the electrical current path. Now repeat the tests above but put the meter black lead on the headlight ground wire instead. You should still get a solid 12 volts. If you don't have 12 volts then you have a bad ground return path.
In California you have to register everything. Well, not quite.... I don't have to register (and smog test
) my lawn mower yet, but there is a big push in the state legislature to do just that. I don't know what state you are in - you'll have to check your local laws...

Whatever you do, cooperate. Don't try and mess with them. They have absolutely no sense of humor. When I tried to register my new Harbor Freight trailer a few years ago we got bogged down at the DMV window (after an hour + wait) over what kind of trailer it was. What do they mean what kind of trailer? Apparently "its a trailer trailer" isn't good enough, and they were not going to help me out with finding acceptable answers. I had to write something in the blank space, and after getting mad I wrote down "portable meth lab" (I was joking of course). They didn't think it was funny, and I had to have the local police come out to my house, inspect and sign off my new trailer (for a substantial fee). And then, according to the DMV, the police didn't fill out the inspection form properly, so I had to have them come out a second time (and a second fee).
It is a "flat bed" trailer BTW. As compared to what I don't know, but "flat bed" trailer works...
OK, maybe I deserved that one... I have a lot more california DMV stories, but I'm off topic enough...

Let us know how you do. I hope it goes well...
