Default Best way to clean air filter

I have my ATV upside down and now have oil in the airfilter, what is the best way to clean it??? Gas??

if it's paper-replace it. if it's foam, i'd use gasoline and compressed air.

I would just replace it, or if that's not an option for whatever reason soak it in some dawn dish soap and rinse it really well, then let it dry.

For foam filters I use solvent and then dish soap... solvent gets the oil out... dish soap gets the dirt out..

UNI has a cleaner and oil kit 2 cans think I paid 14 dollars for it.
It works pretty good for foam. (cant use it on a paper filter)

If you over oil the filter you have a hard time starting your vehicle the 1st time till it can pull air though.

I would not use gas - (saftey concerns being the main reason)
Dish soap will work as suggested it will cut grease/oil

You will still have to buy filter oil.

Good luck.

All this said if it is the stock filter I would replace it with a quality after market foam filter since it is better than stock.
E-bay or any online vendor will have what you need. Go to the MFG website and get the model number if necessary before you make the purchase.
