Default gy6 starter gear grinded....

so i rented an impact to remove variator nut and the gear that is mounted to crankshaft of engine slide right off... i believe its supposed to be mounted to the shaft right? and also half of the teeth are grinded away does this mean i need a new gear and a special tool to mount the new gear onto the shaft? Im talking about the small gear thats all the way to left if your facing the cvt assembly and its on same shaft as the variator if anyone is confused.

I would think you would need both gears.. if one is worn the other one cant be too good..

Spark plug. NGK C7HSA and yes Id replace the plug wire.

ok i already have the the new starter gear the first one listed. i saw to install it on the crackshaft shaft (i think its the crankshaft) i have to use a pipe to impact it on with the nut to lock it onto the shaft. is this true?

I wouldnt hit it too hard with the pipe.. tightening the nut will secure it in place.. if it was me.. I would use red loctite on the taper and on the nut..

ya i am going to use the red loctite thanks for the tip. also i was riding the ATV with the starter gear not on the shaft, and i noticed my variator fan's splines have cracked and it wobbles loosely therefor hitting the cvt cover, is this because the gear wasn't on the shaft?

I cant imagine not having the gear in place would affect the variators blades.
