Default bad starter relay?

when i put the key in and turn it i don't get any response from my quad. not even a ticking noise, i tested my starter motor and it spins, the only thing i can think of is the start relay?

i don't know what size quad or brand of quad you're talking about. BUT, have you engaged the left handlebar brake handle? if it's a small quad, the brake switch needs to be engaged. brake light may not illuminate, but the switch needs to be active. with brake set and key switch on, do you have any electricity? does the starter button work? if not, have you jumped the solenoid posts? what did that do? do you have a fuse on the positive side of the battery? some solenoids have fuses in them, does yours? and if so, is it intact? just curious and double checking, the battery is charged, right? let us know....

i checked my in line fuse and its still good, do i use the red starter button or the one below it for electric start, i have a 150cc hensim. i tried to jump the relay with a wrench but still didnt get any noise, im going to try again holding the left brake and maybe it will work, once i get my new starter gear i can reassemble the kickstart

ok, you got me a little confused on the "red starter button or the one below it for electric start" statement. but i think i know what you're talking about. the red button should have what appears to be a diagram to show "run" or "not allowed". maybe even an X over a rotation symbol. the electric start button below should be the actuator switch for the electric start. the red button should be a Master that kills start or allows start. only the lower button is the the start switch. here's a pic of mine. as you can see, pushing up on the red switch allows start and pushing the red button down doesn't allow start. as indicated by the rotation button and the "rotation not allowed" symbol. below by my thumb is the electric start button.

have you put your volt meter on the battery to see what the voltage is reading? before you push the button and then while you're pushing the starter button. i've seen batteries show "good" then lose all voltage when starter button is engaged and the solenoid won't even click under those conditions. OR, put your jumper cables on it from your car or pickup and jump it. positive to positive negative to negative and try starting it that way.

oh yeah, i don't know if the 150cc has the brake interlock, BUT, if it does, the brake light may not illuminate, but listen very closely at the brake switch up on the left handlebar brake handle area. when engaging the handle, listen for a "tink". if you hear that, the brake switch is working. not knowing your quad, make sure it's in neutral if it's a shifting quad or an automatic. but either way, make sure it's in neutral and the neutral light is lit up if applicable. sorry to ramble, just trying to think of every possible scenario. sorry i don't know your quad, but i'm just trying to help you out asap....

frayed? you probably need to replace it. that'll kill your spark. it may even ground and take out your coil.
