Got a Kazuma Meerkat 50cc i believe. When shifting it decides it wants to jump and by jump i mean stand up on two wheels. I bought this for my younger brother but will not let him ride until i know what is wrong with this. Its a 4 speed tranny as far as i know. Shifting has been done at idle. Any clue what could be wrong?

i'm thinking you ought to adjust the centrifugal clutch on the right hand side of the engine to let it slip more. sounds like all of the power is being tranferred to the ground at low RPMs. think of it as a governor for speed/power. does that sound reasonable or did i misinterpret your post?

Those Little Meerkat's are designed for about 100 pounds max. I have one I rebuilt for my grandson and if I ride it without leaning and sitting WAY forward it will do a wheelie.

Reason is, a larger, heavier person has no choice but to be seated right over the rear wheels placing the CG way aft. When you grab a gear with any power it's only natural for the weight to transfer aft and along with it the center of gravity. So how much do you weigh, and how large a person are you? The heavier and larger the greater the likelyhood of yanking the front wheels off the ground. Also the front will be so light the quad will "push" when cornering because there is not sufficient weight on the front wheels which might make you think something is wrong with the steering. I'm 6'1" and 200 lbs. I have to lean way forward when operating my boy's bike. (I only ride it to test the operation and speed but it's necessary sometimes). Be careful it will dump you on yer "bum" if you are not aware of this. That's likely the problem. That little machine has a lot of power for its size.
